A drug company is currently denying a medication that could save a boy’s life saying that it cannot afford to make the medication available. The 7-year-old boy, Josh Hardy, has a potentially dangerous virus and is in need of the medication Bricidofovir. Chimerix, the company, has given the medication in the past for emergency situations but has since changed its stance.
Kenneth Moch, the CEO of Chimerix, stated that the company’s focus is on earning FDA approval. Amy Hardy, Josh’s mother, stated that it is “almost a crime to not make it available to everyone who needs it”.
What do you think? I personally think the medication should be provided to the boy. It’s a matter of morality not work ethics. You can call Chimerix at (919) 806-1074.
